At the beginning of January 2026, Ian and The Mozartists returned to the recording studio, with soprano Alaxandra Lowe, to record Volume 4 of their acclaimed ‘Sturm und Drang’ series. The programme comprised the Symphony in C minor, VB 142 by Johann Martin Kraus, Haydn’s Symphony No. 45 in F sharp minor, ‘Farewell’, the climactic scene from Georg Benda’s melodrama Medea, and arias from Traetta’s Antigona and Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. The first single from the recording will be available to stream from 30 June, and the complete album will be released on 18 September 2026 on Signum Classics. “… another exceptionally satisfying addition to a series that is special not just for the thought and scholarship that goes into it, but Page’s direction of his fine players.” EARLY MUSIC REVIEW (Volume 3) |
